Greetings from the Director:

Welcome to the University of Georgia Bands website! The 2011-12 Season brings many exciting performances as our program continues to grow and evolve. We welcome Scott Jones, our new Assistant Director of Bands/ Associate Director of Athletic Bands, and our three new DMA students Rickey Badua, John Lopez and Curran Prendergast, as well as many new talented Redcoat staff members. The Wind Symphony and Dr. Gregg Gausline have been invited to perform at the CBDNA Southern Regional Conference on February 24, the Wind Ensemble will perform in Atlanta Symphony Hall on March 27, and the Redcoats kick off their season at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta on September 3. We will perform our second “Concert on the Lawn” on Friday September 30 at 12:30 for the UGA and Athens community, and will host the “neXt festival of contemporary music” February 22-23, and “Inspiring Musicianship: The Conductors Art” April 6-7.

Ours is one of the finest comprehensive band programs in the nation of which we can be justifiably proud! We strive to be on the cutting edge of the wind band world as we honor our many wonderful traditions. UGA student musicians at all levels of ability and interest are invited to join the UGA Band family. Former band members are encouraged to join our very active alumni association. Audience members and friends of the UGA Bands are invited to attend our many concerts. Middle School band directors are encouraged to join us for our 22nd Annual Midfest. High School band directors are invited to participate in Janfest 2013.
