Redcoat Non-Music Major Wind Auditions

For wind instrumentalists who are pursuing a major other than Music, the following are the requirements for admission into the Redcoat Marching Band.

1) Complete the online application.

2) Ask your current band director to write a letter of recommendation for
membership in the Redcoat Band. Your director should send the letter to:

3) Complete the Redcoat Band Audition.

Redcoat Audition Days: Beginning February 1st, email ugabands@uga.edu or call the band office at 706-542-1505 to reserve a time slot for your 2012 Redcoat audition. When emailing your request please include, your name, instrument, phone number, requested audition date, and a preferred time frame for your audition. In order to schedule an audition for you, we must have a completed band application on file. Auditions will be held at the following times:

Saturday March 24th: 10:00am – 4:00pm
Saturday April 28th: 10:00am – 4:00pm

If you have severe scheduling problems please e-mail Dr. Robinson at mcrob@uga.edu to set up an individual appointment.

Audition requirements for winds are:
- Any five chromatically adjacent major scales (for example: C, D-flat, D, E-flat, and E)
- Chromatic scale over the full practical range of your instrument
- One brief technical etude of your choice
- One brief lyrical etude of your choice
- Sight-reading

On the day of the audition you need only bring your instrument, any accessories necessary to play it (mouthpiece, reeds, etc.), and the music for the etudes you will perform.

4) Acceptance letters for new Redcoats will be sent in early June..

6) Parking: There are two parking lots adjacent to the School of Music. Lot E-07 is directly across the street from the Band Room. Lot E-11 is located in the upper parking area in front of the School of Music. There is NO CHARGE for parking on Saturdays.
